So... 5 friends, also powerpop nerds, also excellent musicians who happen to play in a bunch of bands together, were hanging out at a party together. They'd regularly joked about the idea of doing a 'powerpop covers band'. Then they'd laugh. Then one day, they didn't laugh. A few months later, they played their first show. In short terms they had a once a month residency at the Excelsior Hotel in Sydney...
Featuring Bill Gibson on bass (The Eastern Dark, The Pyramidiacs, The Lemonheads), Eddie Owen on guitar (The Pyramidiacs, The Richies), Jadey O'Regan on keys (Jane Vs World, The Cuban Heels, Big Radio), Casey Atkins on guitar (The Reservations, The Cuban Heels, Big Radio, Too Many Guitars) and Michael Carpenter on drums (solo artist, Pyramidiacs, Finkers, Richies, Cuban Heels), this limited edition, self released CDR of selections from two multi-tracked live shows from 2008 is a great example of how exciting it is to hear a dream playlist of powerpop classic played live. It's not perfect, nor does it try to be.. but it is fun and exciting to hear these songs live, all in one place!
